The James Bond Pizza °îµÂ±ÈÈø±ý

ÔÚÏßÊÕÌý½ÚÄ¿

The World's Most Expensive Pizza ÊÀ½çÉÏ×î°º¹óµÄ±ÈÈø±ý

How much is a pizza worth?
Are you hungry? How about a pizza? Just be careful if you go to Bella Napoli£¬ an Italian restaurant in the Scottish city of Glasgow. If you order a pizza there, it could cost you more than £2,000 (or 30,000 Yuan).

Chef Domenico Crolla has created what he hopes will be the world's most expensive pizza. The base of the pizza is handmade dough and the toppings include caviar, Scottish smoked salmon, lobster marinated in cognac and venison medallions ¨C all apparently very pricey nibbles that James Bond enjoys. The pizza even has thin slices of gold on it as its final touch.

Chef Crolla has dubbed his creation 'The Pizza Royale 007' in honour of the new James Bond film which has just been released in Britain. The Chef said 'If any pizza was made to suit 007, this is it.'

But what made him want to create such an expensive meal? For Domenico, it's all about charity. He's hoping to raise money for a good cause. He's going to be donating all the money for the pizza to The Fred Hollows Foundation, a charity which helps blind people in developing countries.

His pizza will be on eBay (the online auction website) until the 19th of November, giving people around the world the chance to bid for this one-off creation.

If you're the lucky winning bidder, you'll have the option of having the pizza prepared for you in one of Domenico's restaurants in Glasgow or having him deliver it to your home.

In an exclusive interview with BBC Learning English he said he would even hand deliver this pizza to China so that he could set another world record for the longest distance ever travelled to deliver a pizza. He visited Hong Kong as part of his 40th birthday celebrations in June 2006 and says he's very keen to visit China again soon.

But if even a slice of this pizza is too expensive for you, you could instead try one of Scotland's other famous dishes ¨C a deep fried Mars bar. That's a cold chocolate bar deep fried in batter which you can buy for the more modest price of just 75 pence (or about 12 Yuan).

Hollywood Wedding Bells ºÃÀ³Îë»éÀñÖÓÉù

ÔÚÏßÊÕÌý½ÚÄ¿

Tom Cruise Weds Katie Holmes ÌÀÄ·.¿Ë³˹ͬ¿µÙ.ºÕ¶ûķ˹ϲ½áÁ¼Ôµ

A wedding with all the trimmings
It was the Hollywood wedding of the year. Heartthrob Tom Cruise married his young bride Katie Holmes in a fairytale castle in Odescalchi near the Italian capital, Rome.

About 150 relatives and friends gathered for the ceremony which was shrouded in secrecy. The guest list included many of the rich and famous from both sides of the Atlantic. Actors Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith were there along with the comedian Jim Carrey and model Brooke Shields. One of Britain's top celebrity couples David and Victoria Beckham were invited but only Victoria managed to attend the wedding ceremony because her husband David was ordered back to Spain to play a Real Madrid football match.

The groom is a member of one of the world's most recent religions, Scientology, which was founded in 1955 by the science fiction writer L Ron Hubbard. It's a controversial religion because some people think it tries to recruit new members by using coercive methods.

The wedding was a Scientologist service and although it had many elements familiar to traditional marriage ceremonies, including rings and wedding vows, it also included certain aspects which are fundamental to Scientology, such as vowing never to go to sleep at night without talking about any differences or disagreements first.

A spokesman for the Church of Scientology said its wedding ceremonies are not legally recognised in Italy so Katie and Tom will also have to have a civil union to make their marriage legal in the eyes of the law.

Fans who waited for a glimpse of the bride, groom and their famous wedding party were disappointed. They had to wait under overcast Italian skies to catch even the most fleeting sight of the celebrities as they rushed by in limousines or under umbrellas.

But despite the rain, there's an old Italian proverb that Katie can take heart from for the rest of her married life ¨C a wet bride is a lucky bride. That means that if it rains on your wedding day, it's a sign you'll have a happy marriage.

Business Jargon ÉÌÒµÐл°

ÔÚÏßÊÕÌý½ÚÄ¿

Managers overuse business language

¹ÜÀíÕß¹ý·ÖʹÓÃÉÌÒµÓïÑÔ

Are they thinking outside the box?
Most people like using short-cuts. We all usually want to get from A to B as quickly as possible and when we want to get our message across to people with the same job as us, we often use jargon. It's a kind of short-cut that helps us communicate without wasting time. Jargon is simply a kind of language shorthand that lets us say what we mean quickly. Or is it?

In the business world you might expect to hear or use a lot of jargon. However, a report just out in Britain claims that most managers overuse business jargon and that this has a negative effect on how staff feel.

Investors in People - a public body whose main stakeholder is the Department for Education and Skills ¨C says that using terms like "blue-sky thinking" rather than saying more plainly "imagine new or different ways of doing things" baffles employees and widens the gap between managers and staff.

Most employees in Britain, according to this survey, have a low opinion of colleagues who use management jargon. Over a third of those surveyed think it shows a lack of confidence and almost one in five think people who use it are untrustworthy or trying to cover something up.

Some of the most overused business expressions that fell foul of those surveyed (and their more straightforward explanations) were:

Get our ducks in a row (have everything arranged efficiently), brain dump (tell everything you know about a particular subject) and think outside the box (be creative in how you think about problems).

Peter Russian from Investors in People said that an effective boss is one who can communicate in a way which everyone can easily understand not one who uses a lot of management jargon.

So now that you've got the helicopter view (just an overview) of business jargon, it's time to give you a heads up (a warning) not to overuse this management speak. But that's a real no-brainer (that's simple), isn't it?

The Changing Face of Halloween
ÍòÊ¥½ÚµÄ±äǨ

ÔÚÏßÊÕÌý½ÚÄ¿ Halloween Troublemakers ÍòÊ¥½ÚµÄµ¹µ°¹í

A friendly ghost on Halloween
October 31st is Halloween when children in the UK dress up as ghosts, witches and all kinds of weird, wonderful but very scary creatures and go "trick or treating". They visit their neighbours and show off their costumes and in return are given goodies.

If a child knocks on your door on Halloween, you should be ready with treats (usually sweets or chocolate) for them. If you don't hand over a treat, they might play a trick on you, like saying "Boo!" to try to scare you or play some other kind of harmless prank.

But the innocence of Halloween could be on the wane. Police departments around the country say there's been a sharp rise in anti-social behaviour linked to the traditional door-to-door Halloween calls.

Chris Weigold of Avon and Somerset police said "On an average day we receive 776 calls via the 999 system but on the 31st of October this was up to 1388 last year"

In Surrey Chief Inspector Stribblehill said "The way people celebrate Halloween has been steadily changing over the last few years. I think trick or treating has become more aggressive. It used to be pulling a horrible face or something equally harmless, but more and more youngsters are doing things like throwing eggs or flour, and that can be very intimidating, particularly for the elderly or vulnerable."

Last year Surry police had to deal with complaints of broken windows and fireworks being pushed through letterboxes. Whilst in Dorset the police are distributing posters that people can put up in their windows to let trick or treaters know they aren't welcome.

This year, however, there's been a change. A group of teenagers who were trick or treating in Bristol noticed a house on fire. They broke in through a window and saw 33 year old Mike Starr unconscious on the floor. They dragged him out and helped him to hospital. One of the boys' mothers said: "I'm really proud of them all."

So it seems a kinder, more gentle Halloween might be in store for us all from now on.
